The ICE-30 Cuisinart ice cream maker is the big sister of the ICE-20. A fine, solidly built electric ice cream maker with a gel canister, it makes 2 quarts of ice cream, instead of the ICE-20’s 1.5 quarts.
Like the ICE-20, this machine produces good ice cream, and it is easy to use and easy to clean. Once you've pre-frozen the canister, set it on the motorized base, insert the paddle, put on the cover, and pour your ingredients through the large spout in the see-through cover. It doesn't get any easier. Clean up is also a cinch, since the canister and paddle are removable. The sleek design of the base, which comes in brushed chrome or a cheaper chrome-and-black-plastic version, also makes it easy to wipe clean. Like many gel-canister electric ice cream makers, this one makes a smooth, well-aerated ice cream. If you prefer to consistency of gelato, try partially freezing your ingredients first.

Customers are generally satisfied with this ice cream machine. (It gets a 4.5 star rating from several hundred reviewers at Amazon, for example.) Complaints tend to be minor - as with the other Cuisinart offerings, some people find the motor a bit too loud. Overall, a good buy and a solid, well-built machine.
