Strawberry Coulis Recipe An Elegant Strawberry Sauce
Strawberry coulis is a delightful, fresh topping that’s oh-so-easy to make!
A coulis is a French name for a strawberry sauce made with a strawberry puree. It deserves its fancy name, given that even a little drizzle of it can turn a ho-hum dessert into an elegant finale to any meal.

What's great about it is you don't need to wait for the all too brief strawberry season to make this gourmet sauce – frozen berries will work very nicely, thank you.If you do opt for fresh strawberries, make sure you pick only berries at their peak. This is a not a sauce to make with berries past their prime.
Ingredients: 1 bag frozen strawberries (20 ounces, 570 grams) or 20 ounces fresh strawberries
¼ cup sugar
1 Tbsp lemon juice
Optional: 1 Tbsp of your favorite liqueur – orange or raspberry work well
- Place the strawberries and sugar in a blender and puree until you have a lovely, smooth strawberry puree.
- Add the lemon juice (and liqueur if using) and pulse once or twice to mix well.
And voila - that's all there is to it!Transfer the strawberry sauce to a container with a tight lid. It will keep in the refrigerator for a week. It also freezes well.
Use the coulis to make our strawberry ice cream, or as a topping on any of our other delicious homemade ice cream recipes.
